SALT LAKE CITY — The NBA and Utah Jazz are offering the NBA Ice Buckets challenge, a free-to-play indoor basketball shooting challenge at Trolley Square.

Those who play might win prizes including tickets to NBA All-Star 2023 events and NBA merchandise.

Fans are encouraged to show the “ice in their veins” by making as many baskets as possible in 30 seconds at the pop-up NBA Ice Buckets basketball court.

There are two separate courts, the press release states. Each court has five strategically positioned hoops that create “an experience that is scoreable for all levels of hoopers.”

Each hoop is worth various points and bonuses. A live leaderboard will show the results and highlight the top scores.

According to the press release, players featured on Dec. 2, the challenge’s opening day, included Utah Jazz President Jim Olson, director of economic development for Salt Lake City Lorena Riffo-Jenson, deputy mayor of Salt Lake County Erin Litvack, Utah Jazz alumni Quincy Lewis and Thurl Bailey, Junior Jazz player Berke Tew of Layton, and the Jazz Bear.

To participate in the challenge, fans may register through the NBA Events App. Those younger than 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

NBA Ice Buckets is now open and will remain open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until Feb. 19 during mall hours.
