A girl named for the season is Intermountain’s New Year’s baby

SALT LAKE CITY — Wynter Kisa Magandazi was supposed to be born on New Year’s Eve, her mother Madi said in a press release. That’s when Madi was induced, anyway.
The baby girl arrived instead at 12:34 a.m. on January 1, 2023, making her the first baby of 2023 born at Intermountain Healthcare hospital in Murray, Utah.
Wynter is the first in what’s expected to be a long line of births at Intermountain this year. In 2022, the hospital said they delivered more than 3,000 babies.
“It was magical experience seeing my wife give birth. We’re so grateful Wynter is here, and she is healthy,” said the father, Jermaine Magandazi.
According to a press release, Wynter’s middle name, Kisa, means grace in Luganda. That’s the language spoken in Uganda where her father is from.
