Police identify Salt Lake hit-and-run suspect, ask for public’s help

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police are asking for help from the public to find a hit-and-run suspect described as dangerous.
They said that Robert Boyatt, 53, drove a car toward, hit, and killed 61-year-old Victor Hershberger early Monday morning, July 3.
The victim in this investigation is identified as Victor Hershberger.
Detectives believe there are people with information about this case, including people who know the identity of the driver of the car that hit Hershberge.

According to investigators, Boyatt struck the victim near 1020 West 1000 North. The victim was operating a scooter when he was hit, and died at the scene.
Police said they’ve found the car believe to be associated with the fatal crash. They believe the suspect and victim knew each other and that this was not a random act.
The suspect stands 5’9″, weighs approximately 180 pounds, is bald, and has blue eyes. Police have asked him to come forward by calling 911.
