MIDWAY, Utah — The beloved Ice Castles are returning to Midway with new features this season and construction is already underway.

A new castle design and an ice soda bar will be the must-see attractions this year. The new castle design includes slides, caverns, tunnels, crawl spaces and sculptures, according to a release from Ice Castles.

As for the soda bar, the attraction is partnering with Quench It! Soda. This season the Ice Castles will also be enhanced with new snow igloos, lighting features, and horse-drawn sleigh wagon rides.

It takes a team of 20 ice artists to build the attraction, according to the release. They place handmade icicles one by one to create features such as tunnels and slides.

Then, artists embed color-changing LED lights into the ice.

The Ice Castles typically open in late December or early January and close in middle or late February. The official opening and closing date depends on the weather. Last season, the Ice Castles had its longest run ever.

Those wanting to visit the Ice Castles can purchase peak season tickets on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 9:00 a.m., here

If you miss out on peak season tickets, you can purchase general admission tickets for $23 and child admission tickets for $16 on the Ice Castles webpage.
