Evacuation soon to be lifted in Brian Head

BRIAN HEAD – After a long wait, the residents of Brian Head will be allowed back home tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, crews are getting the infrastructure of the town ready for residents to come back.

For instance, electricity has been restored, but, “There are still utility companies working in Parowan Canyon [to replace] fiber optic cables and some power poles that needed to be replaced.,” according to Brian Head Fire Spokesperson Jesse Bender. She also says UDOT crews are clearing debris from the roads.
The evacuation order for Brian Head and Dry Lakes is scheduled to be lifted at seven Friday morning. “However, there are still a number of small communities and town sites that are still evacuated. We’re evaluating those evacuations on a daily basis.” These areas include Upper Bear Valley, Horse Valley, Beaver Dam, Castle Valley, Blue Springs and Rainbow Meadows.
Bender says the fire has blackened over 58 thousand acres and was roughly 15 percent contained this morning.
