UPDATE: Family of missing Stanton Porter releases statement regarding his death

UTAH COUNTY, Utah — 43-year-old Stanton John Porter was found deceased on his family’s property Sunday.
Family’s statement
Porter’s family has released a statement regarding his death.
“It is with heavy heart we announce Stanton Porter was found deceased this morning,” the statement reads. “The family would like to express our profound appreciation to friends, neighbors, volunteers, law enforcement and everyone who has assisted with the search effort. Stanton was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, veteran, and healthcare worker who provided selfless service to our country, community and family. Our love for him is infinite. We have so many wonderful memories of Stanton. Please share yours with us at Finding Stanton Porter on Facebook so we can collect these and create a book for his three-year-old daughter Elle.”
Investigation
The Unified Police Department took to Facebook Friday afternoon asking people to watch for the missing 43-year-old.
According to police, Porter was last seen Thursday, August 11, in the Mount Olympus Trailhead area. Additionally, it was reported he may have been withdrawing from alcohol and may have been carrying a firearm.
Volunteer efforts to find missing Stanton Porter
A community effort to find Porter was organized, according to Katy Dilland, a search party volunteer.
Volunteers reportedly hiked the trailhead and canvased neighborhoods searching for Porter. Dilland said they had about 100 to 150 people volunteering.
Found deceased
Porter was found deceased in a shed on his family’s property at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Unified Police Lt. Shane Manwairing.
Manwairing said the shed had been searched multiple times. He was found behind “some objects.”
Porter appears to have died from an overdose, according to Unified Police Department.
