BYU announces new president

PROVO, Utah — Brigham Young University named its 14th president, C. Shane Reese, on Tuesday.
Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints Jeffrey R. Holland made the announcement in a BYU devotional Tuesday morning.
“President Russell M. Nelson is announcing the conclusion of President Kevin Worthen’s remarkable service as president of Brigham Young University.”
Reese currently serves as BYU’s academic vice president, according to a university press release.
“I’m honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as the president of Brigham Young University,” said Reese in the press release.
Reese will succeed Kevin J. Worthen.
“Serving as the president of BYU has been a wonderful experience,” said Worthen in the press release.
Reese will assume the role of president on May 1.
