SANPETE COUNTY, Utah — A former police chief in Sanpete County is suing the city of Moroni to get his old job back.
Robert Hill was relieved of his duties as Moroni Police Chief in February by the city’s mayor. Hill is now taking the city to court alleging retaliation and wrongful termination.
The firing came after a woman was arrested and on the same night that the mayor’s son was issued a traffic ticket.
Hill claims the firing is retaliation for the traffic citation. However, the mayor tells Fox13 it had to do with complaints from two women that he used unnecessary force.
In addition to seeking his old job back, Hill is also seeking back pay from when he was terminated.
