According to Lt. Corey Slaymaker with the Spanish Fork Police Department, the accident happened around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses report that the driver of a passenger vehicle traveling eastbound failed to yield at a left turn on Highway 6. A semi heading westbound then crashed into her.
Following the accident, the 50-year-old female driver of the passenger car was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. In addition to this, there were two dogs in the car, according to Slaymaker. One was killed and the other was taken to a local vet for treatment.
The 36-year-old male driver of the semi was not injured.
Slaymaker said one westbound lane was blocked while crews responded to the accident.
The accident is currently under investigation.
