Wasatch County housing project receives community pushback

SALT LAKE CITY — State-owned lands in Wasatch County could be developed into housing. However, there is community pushback to the project. 

Despite worries over increased traffic and water shortages, an area near Pole Canyon could be turned into housing.

But Trust Lands Administration Managing Director of Real Estate Development, Kyle Pasley, said Utah’s housing shortage has put added pressure to develop state lands.

Pasley said they plan to be very patient and intentional with the project. They want to be sure the development is mindful of the community around it.

“It’s better to control it and make sure that the product is a quality product,” said Pasley. 

Because the development project would be on state-owned lands builders  could move forward despite opposition and community pushback. However, this project is in the very beginning phase, so it could still be a ways off.
