Mountain View Corridor project in full swing

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation is making progress toward turning Mountain View Corridor into a fully functioning freeway.
Crews have started working on the plan to establish 35 miles of fully functioning freeway to connect I-80 on the north to SR-73 on the south.
UDOT spokesperson John Gleason said UDOT has already acquired the rights of way needed for the project.
Right now, southbound drivers have to exit Mountain View at Porter Rockwell Boulevard in Herriman. But by early in 2026, they’ll be able to drive on 4 miles of new road straight through to 2100 N. in Lehi.
Gleason said that improvement will take a lot of pressure off Redwood Road as it crosses from Salt Lake into Utah County.
UDOT is also working to extend Mountain View Corridor from California Avenue to I-80, out by the airport.
Gleason said that work should be done by early 2026.
In addition to the freeway construction, the project will add 6 miles of trails along the Mountain View Corridor. Right now, the trail system runs 27 miles.
