SALT LAKE CITY — New data from the Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report shows how often people crash in 200 different cities.

Drivers in Brownsville, TX have the best record with only one crash every 14.24 years.  Boise, ID drivers are a close second going 13.9 years in-between accidents.

Drivers in Salt Lake City cracked the top 100 “least crash-prone cities” list at 94th best.  Salt Lake City drivers crash, on average, every 9.16 years.

These are the top 10 cities with the safest drivers, or, are least likely to experience a collision:

  • Brownsville, TX
  • Boise, ID
  • Fort Collins, CO
  • Cary, NC
  • Laredo, TX
  • Olathe, KS
  • Scottsdale, AZ
  • Port St. Lucie, FL
  • Madison, WI
  • Eugene, OR

Allstate uses the data to ‘bring awareness of the importance of being safe and attentive behind the wheel,’ according to the report.  They gathered the information from property and damage claims filed with insurance companies along with data from the U.S. Census Bureau to determine the 200 largest cities.

The report also said the data is not used to determine insurance rates.

If you want to avoid the worst city for crashes, avoid Boston, MA, with an average of one crash every 3.07 years.  The national average is for drivers to have a collision once every 10.56 years.
