WEST VALLEY CITY — The family of Shah Reh, the teen survivor of his family’s murder-suicide in West Valley City last month, is speaking out.
In a statement, the family called Shah Reh their hero. After he was shot in the head three weeks ago, he has recovered enough to be moved to a regular hospital room for rehab.
They said he had lost his vision. And, a lot of memories. And those include any memory of what happened the night police say his father shot him, his mother, and his three younger siblings.
But while he may have lost his sight, Granger High School’s Principal Tyler Howe said he hasn’t lost sight of his goals.
“He’s long since had plans to go to the University of Utah. He wants to be a lawyer. He’s a driven person and has ideas about where he wants to go,” Howe said.
Howe has reportedly visited the hospital several times to see Reh.
“And I was just so impressed. Not that he was doing well, but he was asking … about his grades,” Howe said.
The family said doctors don’t know if Reh will get his vision back. Even so, he has continued improving throughout his hospital stay.
When he is released from the hospital, he will be cared for by his aunt, uncle, and cousins.
