Provo Airport closing for the next two weeks

PROVO, Utah — Travelers will not be able to fly into or out of the Provo Airport for the next two weeks.
Just like roads, runways need upkeep over time. According to Matthew Jensen, the Provo Airport Operations manager, that’s what sparked the 14-day closure of the Airport.
“This has been planned for months,” Jensen said. “We’ve worked with all of our airport tenants, airlines and our commercial partners as well. The consensus was that it was better to do the 14-day closure than a longer closure that required nighttime work.”
The upkeep of the airport includes several updates to the facility.
“We’re redoing the sub base. We’re redoing the taxiway. We’re building it up to the strength to be able to handle the continued operation of the aircraft that are now using the airport,” Jenson said.
Ryne Williams with Breeze Airways said planning was key.
“This really helped minimize the impact on our guests,” he said. “They [the airport] let us know so far ahead of time [that] we didn’t put that scheduled period on sale.”
All Provo Airport flights will resume Tuesday, Sept. 19.
