Cindy Workman – Windridge Elementary

Cindy Workman has been a teacher for many years at Windridge Elementary in Kaysville, Utah. I am so impressed with her love for her students. She has an amazing ability to make each student feel that they are special and cared for as an individual. I have had three children taught by her, and every one of them has had the most amazing experience in their 6th grade year, right before starting Junior High
.
I believe that 11-12 year olds are at a time in their life that is imperative for building self-esteem and confidence so that they can be successful in their new transition. She has in past years given them books at the end of the year with a personal message of her feelings about their ability to succeed. She constantly has the kids focus on them giving their personal best. She teaches responsibility and accountability, but in a way that inspires the kids. I have never seen her give constructive feedback without a parting kind remark, smile, and encouragement that they can get better. I have had children that are straight A students and others that really struggle academically. I have seen her inspire the ones that are ahead to help those around them and I’ve seen her take extra time to ensure the child that is struggling can become a success.

Over the last (I’m guessing) 15+ years. Cindy has also made it one of her personal goals to help build schools and support students in Kenya, Africa. Not only does she love our children here, she actively gets them involved in caring for others in this world. She spearheads the students in sponsoring a school to help buy desks or whatever is needed. She frequently travels to Africa as part of her service and she has helped build multiple schools in her career as a teacher. Cindy is retiring at the end of this year and I feel so blessed that each one of my children was able to experience the love and devotion she has as a teacher. ¬¬ Cindy is retiring at the end of this year and I feel so blessed that each one of my children was able to experience the love and devotion she has as a teacher. ¬¬ -Collette Renstrom
