SALT LAKE CITY — Four people suffered injuries from turbulence during a Southwest flight from Chicago to Salt Lake, KSL NewsRadio learned Friday afternoon. 

As reported first by KSL, spokeswoman for Salt Lake City International Airport Nancy Volmer said the four people were taken to a nearby hospital after the flight landed. She was not sure at what point during the trip the turbulence happened. 

In a statement, Southwest Airlines identified those injured as three flight attendants and one passenger. 

“Southwest Flight 1753 on approach to Salt Lake City this Friday afternoon (after flying from Chicago Midway) experienced moderate turbulence,” the statement said. “Fasten seat belt signage was illuminated when the aircraft encountered the turbulence. Our initial reports indicate that, following an uneventful landing of the aircraft, three Flight Attendants and One Customer were treated for minor injuries.” 

Turbulence means violent or unsteady air movements that can result in sudden or unexpected bumps for travelers during flight. Typically, they do not result in injuries.
