LOS ANGELES — Police apprehended a man Friday night after he jumped from a plane taxiing at Los Angeles International Airport, and the FBI believes it may have been an attempted hijacking.
Authorities say the man allegedly tried to open the cockpit door several times before opening a service door and jumping from the plane.
The United Express flight had left the gate en route to Salt Lake City when the incident occurred. The plane returned to the gate, and resumed its flight a few hours later.
The man was arrested on the runway with unknown injuries. Neither the FBI nor airport nor airline officials released his name.
The airport police and FBI were investigating this as a possible attempted hijacking. No additional information was available.
