UPDATE: SLCPD releases new information about Meadows Park shooting

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police are investigating a shooting Thursday evening near Meadows Park that sent one teenager to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to a statement released by SLCPD, officers were responding to an unrelated call when they heard gunshots around 6 p.m. Officers requested backup assistance at that time.
Police located a 14-yearold girl with gun shot wounds in the area of 500 North New Star Drive. The victim was transported by family to the hospital.
Witnesses reported that a fight between two men led to the shooting. Authorities say they have recovered a weapon and the shooting is being investing as gang-related.
Police said they have one suspect in custody for questioning in connection to the shooting. Law enforcement personnel are searching for a second teenager. Additionally, police also said there are several scenes that are part of the investigation.
