SALT LAKE CITY — After Utah Rep. Adam Robertson announced he would be stepping down from office, the candidate filing period for the Utah House seat has opened up.
The House of Representatives is looking to the future, eager to determine who will sit as former Robertson’s replacement.
The candidate filing system opened on Monday and will remain open until 5 p.m. this Friday.
The system opened with the sole goal of finding someone to fill Robertson’s seat.
So far only one candidate has thrown their hat into the ring. McKay Jensen, a Provo City School District Board member has put his hand up to run.
In his announcement of retirement, Robertson said he would be stepping away to dedicate more time and attention to Fortem Technologies. Robertson co-founded Fortem and serves as its chief technology officer.
Robertson’s resignation takes effect on Jan. 1, 2023.
