UHP: Three people dead in two-vehicle crash in Kane County

KANE COUNTY, Utah — The Utah Highway Patrol says three people were killed Tuesday evening in a head-on collision between two vehicles in Kane County.
On Wednesday, two victims were identified as Smita Patel, 64, from Anaheim, CA, and Deana L. Steggell, 46, from Willard, Utah. A 16-year-old male from Willard, Utah who also died was not named.
According to Cameron Roden, of the UHP, the crash between a white SUV and a red passenger vehicle occurred around 6:30 p.m. The UHP didn’t provide the location of the crash.
However, the Utah Department of Transportation says a crash occurred on US-89 at milepost 41, roughly 22 miles north of Kanab.

Two other individuals survived the crash, but their condition is not known.
The UHP is beginning the investigation into the crash. However, Roden says its possible that the crash was weather-related.
