SALT LAKE CITY — From collecting dust in your junk drawer to becoming a collector’s item, this month, Heinz condiment packets could become more popular than ever.
As part of the United States of Saucemerica (‘Saucemerica’) Collection, Heinz has created 50 limited-edition condiment packet designs, inspired by each American state. The company encourages fans to collect as many of these state-centered packets for a chance to win $500,000 worth of prizes.
A company representative said each packet contains a unique condiment inspired by each state’s ‘most beloved dishes.’ The possibilities include ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, tartar sauce, ranch, and Simply Ketchup.
The Utah packet — sporting a hamburger in front of a grand mountain range with bees hovering in the background — contains Heinz Simply Ketchup. Simply Ketchup is known as the ‘healthier’ version, lacking GMO ingredients, or high-fructose corn syrup.
How the sauce collecting competition works
The sweepstakes began on June 1 and will continue until the end of August. In order to enter for the chance to win prizes, contestants must document their findings. They can do this by uploading pictures to the Saucemerica website or by mailing an entry form to Heinz before the promotion period ends.
Prize-seekers will find the packets in restaurants, drive-thrus, theme parks, and movie theaters across the country. At the end of August, if you entered, you’ll be eligible for prizes ranging from $500 to $100,000, depending on how many of the packets you collected.
Additionally, those who play the daily games can win gift cards for restaurants, food delivery, gas, and more.
