GRAND COUNTY, Utah — A brush fire broke out Monday afternoon, forcing the closure of I-70 near the Utah/Colorado border for a time.
According to Utah Fire Info, the freeway was closed in both directions at milepost 217, which is 15 miles east of the Colorado border. As of 5 p.m., the agency says the Mile Marker 217 fire has grown in acreage and expanded to milepost 221.
Air and ground resources are on scene.
Investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. However, a Facebook posting from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office said that a vehicle crash occurred in the same area as the fire.
This is a developing story.
