New report links excessive phone usage to marital issues

SALT LAKE CITY — A new report from the Institute for Family Studies found that more phone usage can create issues between married couples. The report also said excessive phone usage is often linked to more serious marital issues.

According to the IFS report, 37% of married couples that were surveyed said they felt that their spouses were distracted away from quality time together in favor of being on their phones.

The report also found that 21% of the married couples that were surveyed said they were unhappy in their marriage because of their partner’s excessive phone usage.
