One person critical after 3-car crash near I-215 and Highland Drive

SALT LAKE CITY — Cottonwood Heights Police and Unified Police are on scene of a serious crash near I-215 and Highland Drive late Wednesday night. Police said first responders had to extricate a trapped motorist.
According to police, the three-car accident happened when a white pickup truck heading northbound on 2000 east crossed lanes of traffic for an unknown reason on to the off-ramp of I-215.
The truck collided with two other vehicles ultimately landing on top of one, trapping the female driver. The victim was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition.
The driver of the truck and the driver of the third vehicle suffered minor injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
CHPD and Unified Fire working a major accident at I215 and Highland. Rescue crews desperately trying to extricate trapped victim. Southbound Highland is completely blocked and the I215 off-ramp is closed.
