SALT LAKE CITY — The Granite School District confirms that the lockout protocol initiated at James E. Moss Elementary School in Millcreek on Tuesday was based on a false alarm.

According to Granite District Chief of Staff, Ben Horsley, somebody driving by the school reported a “suspicious character.”

Based on that report, the district’s lockout protocol was initiated and the Granite School District Police began an investigation.

The lockout lasted between 25 and 30 minutes according to Horsley.
