High speed chase in Mantua

MANTUA, Utah — A high-speed pursuit through Mantua on August 26, 2023, involving Mantua Police Department officers and a black Dodge Charger.
At approximately 12:23 pm, MPD officers attempted to stop a black Dodge Charger. The vehicle was reportedly traveling at speeds exceeding 100mph on US91. The situation quickly escalated as the suspect vehicle evaded officers, taking the 600 N entrance/exit from US91.
The Charger continued southbound on Main St at an alarming rate of speed, narrowly avoiding collisions with pedestrians and an off-highway vehicle.
Officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle during the pursuit. Later reports indicate that the suspect was apprehended by another law enforcement agency in Weber County, marking the conclusion to the chase. The individual is now in custody.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic laws and the potential dangers posed by high-speed pursuits.
