PLEASANT VIEW, Utah — The Weber High School principal placed on leave in August amidst an investigation has retired, the Weber School District announced Thursday. The district said the principal’s retirement had put an end to the investigation.
The WSD investigated Principal Chris Earnest after complaints that she mishandled allegations of misconduct by the high school’s football coaches.
The district launched an investigation in mid-August following these complaints.
According to a statement from the district released Thursday, Earnest chose to retire as the investigation was wrapping up.
“Because Ms. Earnest chose to retire, there is nothing further for the district to do,” read the statement.
The district thanked her for her 31 years of service to WSD and said it would now focus on filling Earnest’s spot as principal.
