SYRACUSE, Utah — One person is injured after a house fire in Syracuse on Saturday. This happened in a home at 2345 S. Bluff Rd.
Firefighters believe the fire started in the garage. Responders were able to remove a dog from the home and provide medical assistance.
“Upon arrival, the first responding crews encountered heavy fire in the garage and an occupant who had suffered burns,” said Kara Finley with Syracuse City. “The occupant was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. There were no other reported injuries.”
Finley said high winds made it difficult to get the fire under control.
The Syracuse Fire Department received an initial report of house fire around 1:23 p.m. Layton City Fire Department, North Davis Fire District, and Hill Air Force Base Fire and Emergency Services also responded to the fire.
“Great work today by everyone involved in responding to the structure fire in Syracuse,” wrote the Layton City Fire Department in a Facebook post. “Community solidarity is crucial, as we unite to safeguard our citizens regardless of city boundaries. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family during this difficult time. We’re honored to offer our support to our neighbors at the Syracuse Fire Department.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
