Sandy City police have confirmed that Klauke was involved in an auto-pedestrian crash on Monday night.
At around 8:30 p.m., Klauke was walking east on 106th South in Sandy when he started to cross at 1300 East. Police told KSL TV that’s when Klauke was hit by a pickup truck.
“The pickup truck was driven by a 64-year-old male who immediately stopped his vehicle, jumped out, and returned to the scene,” said Lt. Dean Carriger with the Sandy Police Department.
Police said they continue to investigate this case, and that no charges have been filed.
Steve Klauke retired as the announcer of the Salt Lake Bees at the end of the 2023 season. By that time, KSL Sports reports he had announced games for the Bees for 30 years.
