SALT LAKE CITY — At six days out until we find out if Utah will officially be hosting the 2034 Winter Olympic Games, the call for volunteers has already started.

Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation, a non-profit organization, is seeking volunteers now.

Many of Utah’s Olympic venues are already hosting world-class competitions, which is one of the main reasons this organization is asking for volunteers, said Mari Riser, events and volunteer manager of the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation.

“If we do get to 2034, we have events throughout the next 10 years that we will be able to get experience and volunteers not just for the events that we host but also figure skating and hockey . . . There’s so many opportunities to volunteer,” Riser said.

Riser said they’re especially interested in volunteers who are willing to learn some technical skills needed to help run the events.

“We have 2002 volunteers that helped out and they’re still volunteering, and it’s more the technical side, the timing, the scoring, biathlon range things are a little bit more technical on the sports side.” Riser said.
