Big changes coming to Vail Resorts, owner of Park City Mountain Resort

PARK CITY — Big changes are coming to Vail Resorts, including potential layoffs and new enhancements.

The company announced a two-year transformation plan that will affect all 42 resorts under the company’s ownership, including Park City Mountain Resort.

Lindsay Hogan, Senior Director of Communications with Vail Resorts, said less than 2% of the company’s total workforce will be impacted as part of the plan. It will mostly impact the management and back-end structures, with only a 0.2% impact on frontline roles.

“All impacted employees will have the opportunity to apply for other open roles,” she said.

In addition, there will be several open positions for the upcoming winter season.

“We have more than 100 open year-round roles and 1,000 open seasonal roles across our North American resorts, which is typical at this point in the year as our mountain resorts ramp up staffing for the upcoming winter season,” said Hogan.

One new enhancement to this season is that guests will be able to enjoy ski runs earlier than ever at Park City as they debut the latest enhancements to their snowmaking system.

“These enhancements will elevate the guest experience, increasing early season terrain availability and consistency,” Hogan said.
