SALT LAKE CITY – In a new advertisement from Vivint Smart Home, Utah Jazz stars Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell write a letter to fans and the people of Utah.
The two athletes signed a multi-year partnership with Vivint to team up on several advertising and marketing campaigns and have begun with the “Letters to Utah” campaign.
The ads will be used on Jazz TV broadcasts and social media.
Gobert’s video begins with him speaking in French with captions sharing how he started out as a kid from France and how Jazz fans embraced him. Then he transitions into speaking English.
“Now you’re more than fans,” Gobert says in his letter. “You’re family.”
Mitchell begins his letter saying he was just a kid when first came to Utah and he is grateful despite saying he is still a kid that the state has been behind him.
“Just one year older and a whole lot more grateful,” Mitchell said in his letter. “Grateful for the highs and lows, for the ups and downs, and for playing for the best fans anyone could ask for.”
Both players tell fans it is not goodbye or a farewell, it is just the beginning.
Vivint Smart Home Chief Marketing Officer, Nate Randle, says the state is fortunate to have two really talented players playing for the Jazz with Gobert as reigning Defensive Player of the Year and Mitchell finishing second in the Rookie of the Year race.
“Their commitment to their team and the community goes above and beyond,” Randle said. “We’re honored to have them represent our brand and share what it means to feel at home.”
Rick McFarland of fiftyfilms directed the campaign with music written by Lisle Moore of Garage Mahal Music.
