Salt Lake Health officials hope mobile vaccine clinic will get more shots in arms

SALT LAKE COUNTY — The Salt Lake County Health Department is bringing the COVID-19 vaccine to the people.

The county joined forces with MountainStar health to take a mobile vaccine clinic to various locations around the Salt Lake Valley. Its first stop was Tuesday at the Salt Lake Community College campus in Taylorsville.

Another stop yesterday was at the Lone Peak Hospital in Draper where officials told KSL TV’s Ashley Moser, 62 people were vaccinated.

The County Health Department said the free pop-up clinics will be going into neighborhoods that have lower vaccination rates. And they are showing up at times which are more convenient for people, like before and after work.

The mobile van will be visiting various communities six days a week for several weeks in an effort to raise vaccine rates in Salt Lake County.

How To Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus

COVID-19 coronaviruses transmitted from person to person. It is a virus that is similar to the common cold and the flu. So, to prevent it from spreading:

Wash hands frequently and thoroughly, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.
Wear a mask.
Don’t touch your face.
Keep children and those with compromised immune systems away from someone who is coughing or sneezing (in this instance, at least six feet)
If there is an outbreak near you, practice social distancing (stay at home, instead of going to the movies, sports events, or other activities.)
Get a flu shot.
Get vaccinated.
