Minersville male shot and killed over “self defense” says Sheriff

MINERSVILLE, Utah — When the Beaver County Sheriff’s Department responded to a Minersville home on Sunday, they found a man slumped over and bleeding from what they described as an “obvious” wound on his back.
They’d been called to 388 West 100 South in Minersville. A probable cause statement said the unidentified 38-year-old male victim told medical crews he had not shot himself. Police searched the area for a firearm but had no success.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Beaver Valley Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Officials had received reports about a verbal fight between two males earlier in the day.
Mike Allen Miller was found a few blocks from the first location. Miller told police he shot the male victim out of “self-defense.” Later in a police interview, Miller admitted to shooting the man adding that the shot he fired was “protecting others residents in the home.”
Miller was booked without incident into the Beaver County Jail on suspicion of murder.
