TOOELE, UT — Rick Morris, 32, has been missing since the end of June and the Utah Cold Case Coalition is offering $10,000 to anyone who can find him.

Morris was last seen on June 25, just 10 days after his 32nd birthday. A community search is scheduled for Saturday, October 16th.

He is a Type 1 diabetic. Right before his disappearance, he reported dangerously low blood sugar levels to his family. He reportedly left home without any insulin.

Because of the length of time Morris has been missing, and his status as a Type 1 diabetic, several communities in Tooele and across the state of Utah have stepped up to help.

“We are so grateful for the Utah Cold Case Coalition offering a $10,000 reward,” Mariah Morris, Rick’s sister, said in a statement, “and to the Destiny Project for helping coordinate search efforts.

Mariah describes her brother as empathetic, kind, and inquisitive. She says he loves computers and was in the process of developing his own video game before he went missing.

“I’d love to see him finish that because he spent so long doing it,” said Morris.

“We’d like to thank the Tooele City Police Department for their efforts in helping to find Rick. The detectives and officers have volunteered their time and resources and we’re so glad to have their support.

“It means so much to us that so many people are willing to help us and they didn’t even know Rick. They didn’t know our family and they’re willing to help us in our most desperate time. It means more than we’ll ever be able to say,” Mariah says.

Flyer made and provided by Morris’s family with details about his disappearance

Volunteers searching for Rick Morris encouraged to search “unlikely places”

An official search for Rick will take place Saturday, Oct. 16th. Volunteers will meet at the north side entrance of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1030 S. 900 W. in Tooele. Help is welcome any time between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Pre-registration is suggested

A flyer provided by Morris’ family encourages volunteers to look in canals, ditches, drainage tunnels, fields, mountain areas, your property, sheds, barns, old cars, mines, underbrush, and trees.

“With low blood sugar Rick gets confused, disoriented and tired,” said Kara Porter of the Utah Cold Case Coalition. “He could have found somewhere he thought was safe to sleep in.  That’s why it’s important to look even in places you might think are unlikely.”

Call Kara Porter (385) 258-3313 with any information that may lead to Rick Morris’s whereabouts.
