Forest Service releases hunting and travel rules for Ashley National Forest

VERNAL, Utah — The U.S. Forest Service has announced the 2022 big game hunting and travel rules for Ashley National Forest.
Electric bikes (E-bikes) are now recognized as ‘motorized vehicles,’ and as such are being addressed by the USFS. This year, E-bikes may only be used where motorized vehicles are authorized to be operated. A map that shows where these areas are can be found here.
“E-bikes accessing backcountry locations on closed roads and trails has become an issue on the Forest,” the news release from the Forest Service reads. “We ask for everyone’s assistance in using the appropriate means to access destinations across the Forest.”
The use of E-bikes, and other motorized vehicles, to retrieve big game animals is not an exception to the rule.
“Please be prepared to quarter or bone out and pack out animals taken away from designated roads and trails,” the news release reads.
The Forest Service also asks guests to not burn trash and to pack it out with them, dispose of grey and black water in the appropriate locations, and pick up any trash you may find during your visit.
