CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah — After a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Utah National Guard will host the 67th annual Governor’s Day on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Commander-in-Chief of the Utah National Guard Gov. Spencer Cox along with adjutant general, Maj. Gen. Michael Turley will oversee the event. In a pass-in-review ceremony, Cox and Turley will also inspect the troops. This will be the governor’s first opportunity to see the readiness of his troops.

“We are excited to resume this meaningful tradition after a two-year break,” said Turley in a news release. “It will be an honor for the Soldiers and Airmen of the Utah National Guard to welcome Governor Cox for his first Governor’s Day.”

The Governor’s Day event is also open to the public free of charge.

In a salute to the governor, a 19-volley cannon will be fired by 1st Battalion, 145th Field Artillery. The 23rd Army Band will also provide music. Governor’s Day will also include a special recognition of roughly 150 Gold Star families who will be in attendance.

Following the ceremony, there will be various activities available. These activities include military equipment displays, food trucks and a classic car show.

Communities near Camp Williams should plan for traffic congestion on Redwood Road. Additionally, there is no parking allowed on Redwood Road.
