Teenager injured after scooter collides with truck in Grantsville

GRANTSVILLE, Utah — A 14-year-old teenage boy suffered injuries to his leg Monday after the scooter he was riding collided with the tire of a quad cab pickup truck.
According to Sgt. Jeff Watson, of the Grantsville Police Department, the truck was pulling out of the post office at 36 W. Main Street. At the same time, two teenagers on a gas-powered scooter were driving on the wrong side of the sidewalk struck the front right tire on the truck.
The collision resulted in the driver of the scooter suffering injuries to his leg. Watson says the second teenager, who was riding on the back of the scooter was able to jump off before the collision. As a result, the second teenager was unharmed.
The driver of the scooter was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. The injuries don’t appear to be serious. Watson wasn’t sure if the boy had suffered any broken bokes but did suffer some road rash.
Watson says the boy was wearing a helmet at the time. However, his injuries were to his leg.
The truck suffered no damage. The truck was slightly raised with bigger tires.
