It’s time to re-enroll for Medicaid for the first time since before the pandemic

SALT LAKE CITY — Beginning next month, for those applicable, Medicaid re-enrollment will be required for Utahns.
Today, Medicaid is the nation’s single largest healthcare insurer, according to Utah Medicare annual reports. As of 2016, approximately 71.2 million people in the United States had benefits. And more than 400,000 lived in Utah.
According to SelectHealth, about 270,000 Utahns will be impacted by the change as many had open cases during COVID-19.
Contextually, Utah will be returning to pre-pandemic practices, where re-enrollment was necessary every year. The pandemic entered everyone in automatic re-enrollment.
SelectHealth is offering tips for those who need to re-enroll. More specifically, be on the lookout for re-enrollment letters as they are being sent to those who currently receive benefits.
Additionally, if your personal information has changed, keep your MyCase account updated with changes. This will assure accurate communication from the state. Before you re-enroll, make sure your changes in income and household still qualify you for benefits.
If you are no longer eligible, there are coverage options available to individuals and families transitioning from Medicaid.
