Candidates starting to line up as potential replacement for Rep. Stewart

SALT LAKE CITY — In the aftermath of Rep. Chris Stewart’s resignation, R-Utah, on Wednesday morning, candidates on both sides of the aisle are starting to make their intentions known about being a potential replacement for the Utah congressman. 

Utah Sen. Kathleen A. Riebe, D-Cottonwood Heights, tells KSL NewsRadio’s Lindsay Aerts that she will be running for the seat.

Democrat Kale Weston is considering a run for the seat. Weston sought the 2022 Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate. In 2020, Weston ran against Stewart in the 2nd Congressional District.

Earlier Wednesday, Republican Becky Edwards announced her plans to run for the seat.
