SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police have arrested a 57-year-old man accused of shooting his wife.

Police responded to a call about a possible shooting at 12:25 Friday morning on 600 W. South Temple. On their way, another call came in about someone shooting during a fight.

Through their investigation, Police believe the suspect, Charles Coprich, tracked his wife using tracking software on a phone and found her at the address on 600 W. South Temple.

He found his wife with another man he didn’t know. Coprich fired at the man, but he was not hit.

Coprich confronted his wife and he shot her in the back twice.

Police said Coprich drove away from the scene before they arrived, but community members described his vehicle. Soon, a SLCPD sergeant found one matching that description driving recklessly. They arrested Coprich and found his wife inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police booked Coprich to the Salt Lake County Metro jail for domestic violence aggravated assault, aggravated assault, and felony discharge of a firearm.
