MOAB, Utah — The 2024 Easter Jeep Safari has arrived in Moab. The series of rides along some of Moab’s famed trails is a yearly event, and a time when the Moab City Police Department shares reminders for participants.

Reminders for Easter Jeep Safari participants

In a Facebook post, the Moab PD said that speed limits “exist to keep us safe.” When driving on-road, motorists must obey all posted traffic signs and remain within the speed limit.

All vehicles driven on the streets need to be registered. Additionally, Moab PD’s Facebook post said owners must carry insurance on their vehicles.

Those who violate the requirements will be subject to citations or have their vehicle impounded.

A note on lighting

Moab PD said that while halo headlights look cool, they can not be used on public roads unless they are white. The rule also goes for rock, whip, or any other type of auxiliary lighting.

According to Oracle Lighting, rock lights are used to see a vehicle’s surroundings. Often they are installed into the wheel wells but can be placed elsewhere.

Similarly, whip lights are used for increased night visibility when off-roading, per Rhino LED Lights’ website

Additionally, Utah law says that no private driver can display red or blue lights on the front of their vehicle.

A note on stop signs

Finally, Moab City PD reminded drivers that every vehicle must stop at stop signs. Even if drivers are trying to remain with their group, they must come to a complete stop for the safety of others.

The post said the signs are there for a reason and have likely been placed in areas with expected pedestrian and bicycle presence.

“We’re excited for another year of Jeep Safari! Keep those Jeeps rubber side down and have an amazing time in Moab,” read the post.
