SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah — Construction season is ramping up, and Utah transportation officials at UDOT said they have more than 200 projects on their to-do list for the summer.

Lane closures and detours will lead to new freeway interchanges, rehabilitated bridges, and miles of new pavement.

Some of the biggest projects include expanding Mountain View Corridor past Camp Williams, adding four new freeway interchanges to Bangerter Highway and overhauling 5600 South in Roy.

In some cases, the construction will mean inconveniencing Utah drivers.

“There’s that short-term inconvenience,” said UDOT spokesperson John Gleason. “The goal is to have the payoff be worth it once these projects are done. (So) people can get to where they’re going safely and efficiently.”

UDOT spokesperson John Gleason said that with every project, they are keeping the state’s tremendous growth in mind.

“We have to stay ahead of this growth. It’s important to make sure that we’re not only looking at new construction projects like this one, but maintaining the roads and bridges that we already have.”

Here’s how Utah drivers can plan for UDOT projects

Some of the projects Utah drivers can plan for include UDOT’s work to turn 134000-, 9800-, and 4700 South into freeway-style interchanges. That’ll also happen on 2700 West along Bangerter Highway.

The Mountain View Corridor expansion will connect the corridor from Porter Rockwell Boulevard in Herriman to just south of Camp Williams.

Other projects include:

  • 5600 South in Weber County, which will help those accessing Hill Air Force Base,
  • I-15 Shepard Lane interchange, Davis County, a new interchange on I-15 and Shepard Lane to reduce congestion and improve safety,
  • Energy Corridor in San Juan County, UDOT will lay 54 miles of pavement on SR-162 and SR-262

All construction projects are subject to weather and may be changed. Drivers can stay up to date by visiting the UDOT Traffic website
