PRESTON, Idaho — Robert Croslan is accused of feeding a live puppy to a snapping turtle early last year in front of students.
And the jury was seated yesterday after a long day of questioning. Prosecutors are concerned the tight-knit hunting community will protect ‘one of their own’ which would taint the jury pool.
The District Attorney did try to have the trial moved to a different jurisdiction, but a judge denied the request.
Questioning of the jury, which started at 9 am and completed at 5:30 pm, included if they have ever had to euthanize a pet, is it animal cruelty if a hunter misses their shot injuring the animal, and if anyone used sticky traps to catch mice and how long it was until they found the rodents.
The trial will not only start today but is also expected to end with closing arguments later this afternoon.
He faces misdemeanor animal cruelty charges which carry up to 6 months in jail and a $5,000 fine if he’s found guilty.
