DILLON, Mont. (AP) – An off-duty Utah law enforcement officer who stopped at a southwestern Montana grocery store for Tylenol and coffee ended up foiling an armed robbery of the store’s pharmacy.

Dillon Police Chief Don Guiberson says 62-year-old Terry Watson jumped over the pharmacy counter at Safeway on Sunday morning with a .45-caliber gun and demanded drugs.

The officer’s wife ran to get her husband from another part of the store.

Guiberson says the suspect pointed his gun at Jeremy Barnes, who works for the Utah Department of Public Safety.

Barnes backed off but was able to get into position to tackle Watson. The gun discharged as the men struggled. No one was hurt.
