SWAT called to Spanish Fork residence, man barricaded

SPANISH FORK, Utah — An active SWAT situation continues near 300 North 200 East in Spanish Fork, Utah. It has been ongoing since Thursday night.
Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff’s office confirmed that a man is barricaded in his mother’s home. The man has a known mental illness and has been involved in domestic abuse in the past.
The mother has been removed from the house and Sgt. Cannon said the barricaded man has no known weapons beyond kitchen knives.
Cannon also said SWAT has attempted negotiation tactics, but that the man is not responding.
