BRIAN HEAD, Utah — The Big Mountain Enduro (BME) racing event is happening this weekend at Brian Head Resort.
James Graven, public relations representative for the resort, said BME will feature more than 400 cyclists.
“A majority are coming from Utah,” he said. ” About 50 riders from Utah … and then a lot from the southern region. There’s some from the Las Vegas [and] Southern California area. So, you’ll have … regional riders that jump in, but you’ll also have pro riders that, kind of, follow the tour along with adding it to some other circuits.”
According to a Brian Head press release, the race is made up of eight separate events, which include uphill races and downhill time trials.
“Part of the course is to test the riders’ ability to go really fast through obstacles downhill,” Graven said. “The other side of this is the endurance side. So, it’s kind of like cross country or endurance riding. That’s, kind of, the more grueling endurance part of it.”
The race will take place Saturday and Sunday (July 22 to July 23).
