WEBER COUNTY, Utah — The Weber County Sheriff’s Office says an employee was arrested and accused of trying to distribute a controlled substance.
Jennica Massie, a civilian corrections assistant, was arrested Thursday. She’s been employed with the Sheriff’s Office for the last two years, according to a press release.
According to the release, the Ogden Metro Gang unit started the investigation back in April after it says it learned that inmates involved in an Ogden gang had obtained narcotics.
The unit says interviews with inmates and recorded jail calls pointed to Massie. Detectives went undercover and say they got a package from her with the drug Suboxone.
Massie has been placed on leave pending a criminal and internal investigation.
Three other employees who work with her have also been placed on leave as a precaution.
