SALT LAKE CITY — The site near 1300 South and State Street, formerly Coachman’s Dinner and Pancake House, has been put up for sale.

It’s a blow for Salt Lake City’s Liberty Wells Neighborhood. The area was supposed to be turned into new condo complexes, bringing new housing opportunities and adding some fresh development. According to Building Salt Lake, the project “promised to inject a significant amount of life into the area.”

Now that’s been canceled; the developers weren’t able to follow through. According to Building Salt Lake, the project failed because of an inexperienced developer and the cost of financing. It’s a big question mark as to what will happen to it now.

It’s also an especially big hit following the Salt Lake Bee’s announcement earlier this year that they’re relocating their stadium to Daybreak in South Jordan. While the stadium won’t open until 2025, ground has already been broken on that project. The Coachman’s site is just a block away from the old stadium.
