Bear River Bird Refuge skeletal remains identified; death called suspicious

SALT LAKE CITY — Skeletal remains discovered March 30, 2024 have been identified as Elijah Peck, 42, of Garland, Utah, according to the state Medical Examiner’s Office.
The remains were found in a remote wetland area within the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge on the northwest side of Willard Bay, said Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said Peck was last seen in May 2023. The Sheriff’s Office stated that officers are treating this case as suspicious due to the cause of death being undetermined at this time.
Peck was not reported as missing, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said that the case is ongoing.
